Professionnal Background

Denis Faubert holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics from the Royal Military College Saint-Jean, as well as a master’s degree and a PhD in laser physics from Université Laval.

He devoted his career to research and development and innovation. He held numerous senior leadership roles, including Director General of the Defence Research Centre Valcartier, Director General of Programs for all of Canada’s defence research laboratories in Ottawa, and Senior Director of Hydro-Québec’s R&D laboratory, IREQ, in Varennes. He also chaired NATO’s Sensors and Electronics Technology panel within the Research and Technology Organization. He later led two aerospace research and innovation consortia in Montréal, CRIAQ and CARIC.

As an independent consultant, he supported the launch of Montréal’s SCALE AI supercluster in artificial intelligence, assisted the aerospace community in securing funding under the federal Strategic Innovation Fund program of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, and helped Concordia University initiate its federal Apogee grant.

He has served on various boards of directors and remains actively involved with PINQ2, an organization dedicated to quantum computing, and L’Île-du-Savoir, which organizes Montréal’s major Eureka science festival. He also volunteers his time to support the technological development of SMEs and startups.
