Marc Bourret has built up over 45 years of management experience in the field of military and commercial aerospace. He launched his career at the Royal Canadian Air Force and remained there for 21 years. As an aerospace engineering officer, he managed aircraft maintenance engineering teams as part of several tactical and wing operations units at Canadian Forces bases in Bagotville and Valcartier, Quebec. He also served as a helicopter flight test specialist at the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment in Cold Lake, Alberta, and as Senior Program Manager at the National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa. Over the past 23 years, he has been a member of the executive teams of large organizations in the aeronautics sector that include Bombardier’s Defence Services, CAE (marine division), Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (now Bell Flight), AEROLIA Canada/STELIA North America, and LTA Aerostructures.
His career path allowed him to develop impressive expertise in strategic planning, management, business marketing and development, integrated management of manufacturing operations and services, project and program management, and after-sales support. He has worked in organizations that specialized in business transformation, start-up, growth, wind-down and mergers/acquisitions and has led multidisciplinary and multicultural teams in both unionized and non-unionized settings. He is guided by industry best practices and has mastered the concepts behind LEAN Manufacturing.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Physics and Mathematics from The Royal Military College Saint-Jean, a degree in aerospace engineering from the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering in Borden, Ontario, and an engineer certificate for helicopter trials from the École du Personnel Navigant d’Essais et de Réception d’Istres in France. He also holds Six Sigma certification. He has twice served on the Board of Directors of AERO Montréal and is a member of both the Canadian Aeronautics And Space Institute (CASI) and the Society of Flight Test Engineering (SFTE).
