Édouard Préfontaine is an experienced advisor who has partnered with a large number of businesses and firms across several industrial sectors and activities in Canada and overseas (in over 30 countries). He holds an MBA from HEC-Montréal and specializes in economics and management. Since 1988, he has completed over 700 mandates where he leveraged his expertise to orient and facilitate the efforts of executives and boost their business results. He held two positions within the Canadian government (CIDA and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada) before joining the Lavalin company in 1980 as an economist. He was subsequently promoted to Vice-President of the Economic Analysis Division. In 1988, he founded Stratem, a consulting firm that specializes in business strategy, economic surveys, marketing, business plans and executive coaching. His client base includes prestigious companies like Hydro Québec, SNC-Lavalin (CUSM), Aéroport de Montréal, ABB, BFI, McInnis Cement, Ville de Montréal, research and promotion firms like INRS, IRB and SOVAR, several small to medium-size businesses and international and overseas organizations. In 2011, he accepted the role of Director, Corporate Development & Project Financing, Renewable Energy Projects, at SEMAFO Energy where he collaborated with major international financial institutions including the World Bank’s IFC and the African Development Bank Group on the rollout of energy projects. In 2015, Mr. Préfontaine refocused on consulting and concentrated on small to medium-size businesses.
